The Zimmerman Bury Octagon House, 10095 Wadsworth Road, Marshallville, OH  44645

Our Mission is to preserve the only known Queen Ann Style Octagonal house with a gabled roof.  This 1883 landmark has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and the owners wish to share it with the public as a living museum of the middle class Victorian way of life.

The Octagon House is Now Available for private Victorian Teas, Workshops, Small Meeting Accommodations & Group Tours By Appointment Year Round! (Contract)

April 17, 2010 Victorian Tea Party & Fashion Show   Enjoy an authentic Victorian High Tea at this unique National Historic Landmark.  Drink in the ambiance of the Victorian era and along with your tea enjoy various savories including tea sandwiches, pastries and English trifle.  A tour of the first floor and history of the house will be provided.  Learn about the different styles of Victorian Tea Gowns with a Fashion Show.  Hats and Gloves encouraged!  Please register early, $25 special event fee per person.  May 1-2, 2010 Civil War Show  Visit us at the annual Mansfield, OH Civil War Collector’s Show at the Fairgrounds in the Sutler Building where we’ll have mid 19th century clothing, accessories & patterns available for sale.

May 15, 2010  Victorian White Underpinnings Workshop  Save $ on your 19th century wardrobe by creating your own underpinnings.  Spend the day cutting and sewing an historically correct 19th century pair of pantalettes (bloomers), chemise, and petticoat.  Simple sewing skills required.  Please bring 9 yards of 45” wide, preshrunk, bleached white muslin and a sewing machine if possible.  We will have available a variety of trims and notions to purchase.  Listen to a brief  history of 19th century underpinning and their construction, and view original items.  All guests will receive a free Day-Cap pattern to create from your scraps of muslin.  Have your muslin scrap machine embroidered while you work to make this accessory even more special.  Lunch, and Tea Time snacks provided.  A very special work day for any Victorian enthusiast, including living historians, museum docents, and Civil War Re-enactors.  Pre-registration is required as space is limited.  Time is from 10-6, $40 fee.

Summer 2010,  Blue Tip Festival Parade in Wadsworth, and The Rogues Hollow Parade in Doylestown  Visit our Volunteers  in these community parades  for a chance to receive a discount for public tours and events.

December 11 & 12, 2010 Public Christmas House Tours 1-5  A $5 donation per person is requested, children $2, children 5 & under will be free.  Visit the Zimmerman-Bury Octagon House when each room is decorated with authentic Victorian Christmas decorations, including antique ornaments on the ten foot tree.  Take a journey into the past one step at a time up the decorated spiral staircase to view the second floor.  Enjoy a cup of hot cider and warm popcorn while walking the grounds, and shop in the gift shop for Victorian hand made Christmas gifts.  All proceeds to benefit a current restoration project.

December 31, 2010 New Year’s Eve Victorian Soirée  Enjoy an elegant multi course Victorian supper amid the period ambience of this 1883 octagonal house.  Evening also includes the history of the house, a full house tour, entertainment & evening parlor games. A special formal opportunity!  Please register by December 13th, $50 per person.
